MACHIE, DENNIS EDWARD SR
Dennis Edward Machie Sr (N1UA), 62 , of Middleburg passed away Friday, September 2, 2011. He was born November 30, 1948 in Hartford, Ct. He passed at home with his close family by his side after a long battle with cancer. He displayed courage, dignity and grace throughout his cancer battle. He was husband and a best friend. He was a retired Arco & Exxon Service Station Owner. The love of Amateur Radio gave him extensive radio contacts all over the world. He even had contact with the Space Shuttle Atlantis when it was docked to Russian Space Station MIR. In addition he enjoyed motorcycling, camping, auto mechanics and electronics. Dennis also was an active member of the BMW Motorcycle Club of Northeast Florida. Preceding him in death were his parents; Milford and Catherine Machie; his sister Mary Ann Machi. Surviving are his beloved wife of 42 years and best friend, Patricia Machie; son, Dennis Edward Machie Jr of Ocala and Timothy Wilkinson of Middletown, Connecticut; Grandson, Dennis Edward Machie III of Ocala; sister, Kay Nordquist of Portland, Connecticut.; brother, James & Cathy Machie of Willimantic, Connecticut. Mrs. Patricia Malyszek, 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2009, after a short illness. She was born in Detroit, Michigan to Joseph and Julia Neubauer. She was a long time resident of St. Augustine, Fla., and attended Corpus Christi Church. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Vincent and her son Gary. She is survived by her sons; Tim Malyszek (Palm Coast); Michael Malzek (Lake Arrowhead); William Malyszek (St. Augustine); and Matthew Malyszek (Orange Park). She is also survived by five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. MAGNIFICO, JOHN
John Magnifico, 64, a resident of Orange Park, Florida, departed this life early on December 29, 2012 at St. Vincent’s hospital following a sudden illness. Originally from Grafton, West Virginia, John was born January 4, 1948 in Fairmont, West Virginia, to the late Peter and Gloria Magnifico of Grafton. John was a 1966 graduate of Grafton High School and attended Fairmont University for two years before hiring out as an operator and later CSX train dispatcher. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Orange Park, BPOE, Harley Owners Group and the National Rifle Association. He was a lifelong lover of hunting in the beautiful West Virginia mountains and hill country of Texas. John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathryn “Taffy” Bartlett Magnifico. Also surviving are his daughter, Julie Marie Hollan and husband Brad of Orange Park; and son, John Michael Magnifico of Portland, Oregon; three precious granddaughters, Jillian Grace, Emma Beth, and Stella Marie Hollan of Orange Park; a brother, Michael Magnifico and wife Linda of Boxford, Massachusetts, and many wonderful nieces and nephews, and friends. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him and shared his passion. Mrs. Patricia B. Maholm of Penney Farms, Fla., passed away on Wednesday July 6, 2011. She was born on May 27, 1931 in Englewood, NJ to John Harold and Frances Cornils Baillie. She was a graduate of Edison High School in Miami, Fla. She established her own business and retired in 1987. She had moved to Penney Farms in 2008 from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Daniel. Survivors include her sons, James E. “Ted” Spisiak, Jr.; John G. Spisiak (Barbara); daughter, Patricia Ellen Aguirre; grandson, John R. MANFREDI, JANET AILEEN
Janet Aileen Manfredi, 79, of Maxville, FL, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2011. She was born on July 5, 1932 in Phillipsburg, NJ to parents, Joseph and Mary Huff. Mrs. Manfredi had worked as a school bus driver and had resided in the local area since 1979, moving here from New Jersey. She attended Christian Faith Center in Middleburg and was a devoted mother and grandmother who dearly loved her family. She was known as a hard worker and loved drawing, especially house plans and loved her animals. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, John J. Manfredi and is survived by her son, Steven “Mike” Manfredi (Paulette); daughters, Janet “Vickie” Norton and Paula J. O’Steen (Richard); 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and her dogs, Libby and Pepper. Manjuck, George Edward
George Edward Manjuck, 78, passed away on December 29, 2011. He was born in Stamford, Connecticut on February 15, 1933 to Alexander and Victoria Manjuck, the youngest of thirteen children. A 1951 graduate of Stamford High School, George enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 19 and served proudly for 30 years, attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. He was an aircraft maintenance officer attached to several aircraft squadrons and served aboard aircraft carriers and at stations in the U.S., Newfoundland, Europe, and the Pacific. After his retirement from the Navy, George earned a Bachelor's Degree in Vocational Educational Studies from Southern Illinois University. He taught substance abuse awareness and prevention classes for the Navy as a University of Arizona contractor for 15 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jane Manjuck of Jacksonville, daughters Kathy (Bill) Coppenger, Marcia (Chris) Domack, and Janice (Michael Simmons) Manjuck, and grandsons Nick and Andrew Coppenger, Martin and Alan Domack, Andre Simmons, and granddaughter-in-law, Kristi (Andrew) Coppenger. He is survived by his sister Helen Tassitano, of Oxford, CT and was preceded in death by his parents and eleven siblings. An avid outdoorsman, George enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, boating and water skiing. He fell in love with Florida, especially St. Augustine Beach, Salt Springs and the Florida Keys. He enjoyed all sports, particularly golf and college football. He was an accomplished soccer player in high school and played handball, tennis and golf later in life. George also enjoyed gardening and playing with his many pets. He will be missed by his many friends and family and his current dog, Sandy. Mr. Don Mansel age 67, passed away Tuesday April 12, 2011. He was born in Chattanooga, TN. He served in the US Army. Martin, Steven D.
Steven D. Martin, 47, of Chesapeake, Virginia, died November 29, 2011, while serving aboard the USS Enterprise. He was born April 24, 1964, in Ellsworth, Maine, the son of Marcia and Don Martin of Fort Pierce, Florida. On November 14, 1998, he married Stephanie Ann Martin, who survives. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Master Chief Master at Arms, enlisting in the Navy in 1984 he served honorably for 27 years. He is survived by his son Steven D. Martin II of Chesapeake, Va.; daughter Kaitlyn P. Martin of Titusville, Fl.; daughter Jennifer A. Martin and grand-daughter Kyleigh A. Martin of Titusville, Fl.; son, daughter-in-law, and grand-son, John M. Kelley, Abby Kelley, and Jayden R. Richards of Panama City, Fl.; father and mother Donald N. Martin and Marcia E. Mr. William “Hal” M. Martin, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Darlene Martin, 3 daughters, Diana Engle and Beverly Subett of North Vernon, Ind., and Cindy Martin of Mich., 5 sons, Larry of Jacksonville, Tim (Leigh Ann) of Louisville, Ky., Steve (Cindy) of North Vernon, Ind., Bill (Sonya) and Rick Newsome of Orange Park, 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Jerry of Michigan. He was the son of the late Bessie Pearl and Irvin Martin of North Vernon, Ind. He served in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1952. He was a sales associate at Orange Park Toyota. His most enjoyable job was driving Mr. Hal’s Ice Cream truck in the Orange Park area. He will deeply missed by all. Samantha was a 12th grader at Middleburgh High School, an avid kick boxer at First Coast Gym and an outgoing person, who would help anyone expecting nothing in return. August 10, 1920 - October 22, 2011 Sommers "Sam" Martinez, 91, of Jacksonville, peacefully went home to be with his Lord Jesus on October 22, 2011. Sam was born in Jacksonville, FL as the fourth of eleven children to parents Toney and Lena Martinez on August 10, 1920. He is survived by two sons and four grandchildren: son Scott & wife Susan of Orange Park and their children Sandra and Scott, Jr., and by son Todd & wife Linda, and their children Sam and Daniel of Alpharetta, GA. He is also survived by two sisters Mary and Patricia, by four brothers Leo, John, Robert, and Halle, and by sister in law Mildred Snow of Rebecca, GA and brother in law Albert Brown, Jr. of AR. He was preceded in death by his loving wife and devoted mother to his sons Edith, and by his brothers Tony, Manuel, Albert and Harold. Sam served the Lord faithfully as a lifelong Christian, served his country honorably as a WWII veteran, retired with 30 years of service at the former Seaboard Coast Line (CSX), and celebrated 39 years of marriage with his wife Edith until her passing in 1994. Mrs. Martha Eugenia Mesa de Masmarques, 74, of Fleming Island, Fla., passed away peacefully Monday, January 10, 2011. She was born on December 20, 1936 to Luis Reinaldo and Emma Luisa Mesa in Aragon, Colombia. She moved to Fleming Island three years ago from Arlington, Va. She was of the Catholic faith and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fleming Island. She was an amazing seamstress with a wonderful talent for interior design. She loved her job working with children and was a loving and caring daycare provider. She was the eldest of sixteen children and enjoyed traveling with her family. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her granddaughters. She was a very loving mother and “Wita” to her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Khalaf A. Mahmood and by her parents, her sisters, Ruth and Maria-Elena Mesa; brothers, Guido, Carlos and Antonio Mesa and her beloved granddaughter, Sofia Alejandra Gutierrez. Henry Mastalski, 82, of Fleming Island, FL, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012. He was born on May 6, 1929 in Dixonville, PA to parents John and Rose Mastalski. He was a World War II Veteran, having served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Mastalski had worked as a technical engineer and was the former owner of Designer Glass in Orange Park. He moved to the local area in 1986 from Missouri. He was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and loved photography, gardening and his glasswork. Mr. Mastalski was the proud holder of 5 U.S. Patents. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Mary Theresa Mastalski; sons, Michael J. Mastalski (Georgetta), Charles H. Mastalski (Goldie), Kevin P. Mastalski (Donna) and James A. Mrs. Sandy Matthews, 38, of Middleburg, Fla., passed away Friday, August 12, 2011. She was born on April 6, 1973 in Jacksonville, Fla., to Ted and Jean Biggs. She worked as a teacher at Ollie’s Day Care in Orange Park and was a member of Lake Asbury Baptist Church. She loved working with the children’s choir at the church and enjoyed spending time at Disney World. Sandy’s family was her true love and passion and she will be dearly missed by them and her loving friends. Mrs. Elimor Matters Mays, age 91, a resident of Penney Farms died Sunday Jan. 2, 2005 at the Pavilion For Health Care in Penney Farms Retirement Community. Mrs. Mays was a native of Nesko, MO coming to Penney Farms in 1990 from madison, FL. She was the daughter of William Tell Matters and Corrie Virginia Page Matters. Elinor was a Teacher and had taught at the Payip College in Chainarimes, Thailand, she also taught at the Sheldon Jackson College in AK and Madison Community College and was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. Mrs. Mays was preceeded in death by her husband Vester Mays in 1990. She is survived by her two sisters: Margaret Iverson and Alice Pegram both of Deland and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Robert Bruce McCallum, age 41 of Middleburg, died July 27, 2012 at his home. Mr. McCallum was born in Jacksonville on December 21, 1970 and was of was of the Catholic Faith. He was a graduate of Nease High in Jacksonville then later he received his A.A. degree from F.C.C.J. His enjoyment was camping, biking, spending time with his best friends and he was also an Eagle Scout. Survivors are his parents; Robert J. and Brenda McCallum, one brother: Mason B. Jacqueline “Jackie” McCann, 75, passed away on March 17, 2013. She was born on August 6, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY to the late James and Grace Ryan. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Brendan; her five daughters, Susan (Pinardo), Colleen (Baez), Erin (Love), Eileen, and Kerry (Fredericks); eight grandchildren, Michael Pinardo, Brendan, Shannon, and Tucker Love, Mallory, Conor, Brynnan, and Teagan Fredericks; her brother, James Ryan and many nieces, nephews and in-laws and friends. Jackie graduated from St. Brendan’s High School in Brooklyn, NY. While raising her children, she enrolled at SUNY Stony Brook, where she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education. Each of her daughters has followed in her footsteps by earning their college degrees. Jackie owned and operated a travel agency on Long Island for many years. She loved to travel, visiting over 30 countries on six continents and taking at least 30 cruises with Brendan. In 1990, Jackie and Brendan retired to Florida, making their home at Magnolia Point in Green Cove Springs. Jackie was very involved in Magnolia Point activities, including the Magnolia Point Women’s Club, the Ladies Nine Hole Golf League, the Red Hat’s and a number of children’s activities. Minnie Marie (Taggart) McGreevy, 68, of Middleburg, FL, passed away December 31, 2011 following a brief illness. She was born August 19, 1943 in Jacksonville, FL to Rev. Rubin Lester Taggart and Minnie Lee (Starling) Taggart. She was a native of Middleburg and grew up attending Black Pond Baptist Church and Beulah Baptist Church. She was a member of the first graduating class of Orange Park High School where she was active in the school band playing the bass drum. Mrs. McGreevy had retired from the United States Postal Service, was an active member of HCE in Green Cove Springs, volunteered at the Clay County Fair and was also active in judging at other fairs. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, John “Mac” McGreevy, and her brother, William “Billy” Taggart. Dolly received her training and worked as a Registered Nurse at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia. Her job included treating military personnel who were severely wounded in WWII. While working, she met and married Thomas Wilson Meldrum, Sr. MD (deceased 1998). They were married for 50 years. Dolly and Tom had residences in Keystone Heights and Orange Park since 1963, and permanently resided in Keystone since 1988. Jonathan Mitchell, 40, of Fleming Island, FL, passed away Monday, September 26, 2011. He was born on December 19, 1970 in Jacksonville, FL to parents, Phil Mitchell and Etta Overman Mitchell. Jonathan was raised in Coconut Creek, FL and attended Coconut Creek and American Heritage High School. He served his country in the United States Army and did two tours in Haiti and one tour in Korea. He received the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Grenade and Rifle Bar. He had formerly worked as a construction superintendent with Elkins Constructers and Colorado Structures. Jonathan enjoyed skateboarding, motorcycles and was a member of the local YMCA. Mr. James Arthur Morley, 65, of Green Cove Springs, Fla., passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011. He was born on April 28, 1945 in Swampscott, MA to Elmer and Pearl Morley. He was of the Catholic faith and has lived in Florida for the past 25 years. He honorably served his country in the United States Army with the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment during the Vietnam War. He was a decorated war veteran who received many medals including the Bronze Star Medal with Combat V. After leaving the military he worked for the Federal Government for many years before retiring. He also worked for Union Correctional Institution for 7 years as a counselor. He earned double masters; one in business and one in behavioral counseling. He enjoyed time spent riding his motorcycle. (May 3, 1925 - October 18, 2011) June Murphy, 86, passed away October 18, 2011 in Orange Park, FL. She was born to Charles and Harriet Criscuolo on May 3, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois. June married Mr. George Murphy on June 15, 1946. They had three children, Patricia, Susan and Gary. Gary preceded her in death last December. She was employed as a beautician for Esther’s Beauty Salon retiring in 1969. June became affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose in March 1970 when her husband, George joined San Diego, California Lodge #508. June joined San Diego Chapter #2 in 1971. After much work, dedication and enjoyment, she received the College of Regents Degree on June 7, 1975 and her Star Recorder Degree on June 19, 1979. June and George came to Moosehaven on May 9, 2001 where she resided for 10 years. George preceded her in death on August 13, 2004. June is survived by her two daughters, Patricia “Pat” Walker of Hemet, California and Susan “Sue” Hicks of Bend, Oregon, Five grandchildren; Tamara, Brian, Richard, Scott and Kathie; 10 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and her niece, Joyce Leonhart, also a Moosehaven resident. Wilkes and Georgia West (due October 6, 2011). She was predeceased by her parents, George and Lessie Walker. Born on April 14, 1927 in Eastman, Ga., she moved to Orange Park at 15 years of age. She graduated from Clay High School in 1945. Upon graduation she worked at the Naval Air Station in Green Cove Springs. On December 4th, 1946 she married Jennings Murrhee and they began their life together. In 1950 they moved to Belmore (Keystone Heights) and established the Murrhee Ranch where they raised their beloved family. On the ranch they ran a turpentine operation, raised cattle, trained racing quarter horses and farmed timber. She worked at Keystone State Bank for seven years and at KHHS as a librarian aide until her retirement in 1984. She was a Baptist by faith, past member of the Easter Seal and founding member of the Clay County Fair. Memorial services will be held in the Broadus-Raines Chapel in Green Cove Springs on Thursday, May 19 at 11 a.m. preceded by visitation with the family at 10 a.m. Pastor Brad Williams from Keystone Presbyterian Church will be officiating. (August 25, 1950 - April 1, 2012) Michael Jennings Murrhee Sr. or “Piggy” as known and loved by many, 61, passed away in his home on Sunday, April 1, 2012. He was a lifelong resident of Belmore, Florida. He is a descendant of a long line of Clay County residents. He graduated from Keystone Heights High School in 1969. During his high school career, Mike spent many years participating in track and field, but most importantly football. On the weekends, Mike could be found on the lake or in the woods with his friends and family. He served as the only acting President of Cripple Creek Hunting club where four to five generations learned the art of telling tall tales and fellowshipping with a little bit of hunting. He is predeceased by his mother, Georgia L. Murrhee, and his nephew, William Scott Wilkes. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his father, former Clay County Sherriff (Otto) Jennings Murrhee Jr.; his sister Delores M. Wilkes and brother-in-law Honorable William A.
