VANDIVER, STEPHEN (STEVE) JOEL SR.
Mr. Stephen (Steve) Joel Vandiver, Sr., 59, of Orange Park, Fla., passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at his home. Born in Madisonville, Ky., he was the son of the late Jessie Robert and the late Justine (Smith) Vandiver. He married Gale Stokes. He was a pump maintence servicemen, employed by Clay County Utility in Fla. He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God at Orange Park and a 1969 Graduate of South Hopkins High School. Survived by his wife, Gale (Stokes) Vandiver; one son, Stephen Vandiver, Jr., of Sweetwood, Fla.; five sisters, Sharon Hugo of Simpsonville, SC; Carmen Franklin of Nortonville, Ky.; Hilda Camplin of St. Charles, Ky.; Shelia Burns of Jacksonville; Janice Love of Jacksonville; and three brothers, Jack Vandiver of Huston, Texas; Ralph Vandiver of Dawson Springs; and Clifton Vandiver of Sturgis, Ky. Predeceased by his brother, Lewis Vandiver; brother Huston Vandiver; and brother, Gerriel Vandiver. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at Bandy Funeral Home, Nortonville, Ky. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 5 at 11 a.m. at Bandy Funeral Home, Nortonville. Interment will follow in Gilland Ridge Cemetery, St. Charles with the Rev. Timmy Camplin officiating. Pall Bearers are Gary Mull, Kevin Mull, Stephen Lear, Ronnie Justice, Jerry Vandiver, and Harold Williams.

VAN DYKE, CLIFTON VERNON
Clifton Vernon Van Dyke, age 88, of Haines City, a retired home builder / remodeler, passed away unexpectedly, October 17, 2011 at his home in Green Cove Springs. Clifton was born in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts on January 31, 1923 to Donald J. Van Dyke and Eva E. Sanborn Van Dyke, and was the youngest of nine children. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters. Clifton is survived by Hazel A. Van Dyke, his loving wife of 64 years who he met and married in Brockton, Mass. He is also survived by his nephews: Steven (Jan) Van Dyke of Springfield, Mass.; Brain (Mona) Van Dyke of Lehigh Acres, FL; Mike (Jeanne) Van Dyke of Milford, Mass; Jim (Anita) Ashley of Mass.; Steve (Millie) Ashley of Mass.; Nieces; Theresa Ashley of Mass.; Lori (Rob) Alger of Mass.; Anna Marie (Rick) Winnie of Green Cove Springs, Fl.; sister-in-law, Margaret Ashley of Green Cove Springs, FL.; brother-in-law, Allan (Pauline) Ashley of Mass. and many adoring grandnieces and grandnephews. Clifton owned and operated a home building / remolding business for a number of years under the title “Jim Van Dyke Linoleum and Tile “on Cape Cod. He also successfully ran several motels in the Cape Cod, Waquoit and Falmouth areas of Massachusetts. He proudly served in the U.S. Coast guard during WWII. Clifton was a life member of the Aleppo Shrine and Masonic Lodge. A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date. Pamela Lynn Van Kampen, 41, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2011. She was born on March 9, 1970 in Orlando, FL to parents Jeff Thomas and Kathleen Bullington. VANSTEEN, TERRI LYNN
Mrs. Terri Lynn VanSteen, 63 passed away Tuesday March 3, 2011. She was a native of Syosset, NY and had been a resident of Green Cove Springs for the past 4 years. She was a dietician with the Cold Spring Hills Nursing Home of Wood Bury, NY for 25 years and was of the Lutheran faith. She was a breast cancer survivor, which speaks of her strength and strong spirit. Survivors include her husband who she was devoted to, Robert VanSteen, son, Scott (Caryn) Vansteen, her grandson who she loved so much, Aidan Jake VanSteen, brother, Danny (Linda) Ketcham. VELASCO, NANETTE VIRGINIA BARRATT
Mrs. Nanette Virginia Barratt Velasco, 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, April 21, 2011 in Orange Park, Fla. She was born on February 7, 1920 in Roanoke, Va., to Leland Barratt and Marie C Tallman. On February 20, 1939, she married Eddie Velasco, and the two were together for 67 years, inseparable until his death in 2006. They lived in Tampa until 1960 and Brandon, Fla., until 1986, when they moved to Green Cove Springs to be closer to their grandchildren. She was a model employee at the Hillsboro County Tax Collector’s office until her retirement in 1978. She was an incredible cook, and she and her husband enjoyed traveling the United States in their RV, journeying to every state in the continental U.S. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her daughter, Margaret Velasco. She is survived by her son, Edward, Velasco, and two grandchildren, Jesse and Schuyler Velasco. Her entire life, Nan worked hard and was a fiercely devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed.

Ventress, Myrtle Christine
Myrtle Christine Ventress of Green Cove Springs went home to be with the Lord on September 18, 2012. She was born May 23, 1924 in Bethpage, Tennessee to Minnie and David Roberts. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and friend to many. She loved her church, flower gardening and gospel music. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Richard, 4 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by her son, Billy and her daughters, Shirley Hale, Wanda Worley, Pat Sumner and Kathy Miller. She has numerous grand, great & great grandchildren. VERES, ROSA OLGA
Rosa Olga Veres, 91 of Sunrise passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Palm Garden of Winter Haven. She was a homemaker, and retired from the food service department at Memorial Hospital of Jacksonville. Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, John Veres in 1977. She is survived by her children, Gerald Veres of Sunrise, Rose Marie Veres Young (Mike) of Winter Haven; and David P. Veres of Jacksonville; a sister, Gizella Taylor of Kannapolis, NC; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. VINCENT, BRADFORD LEWIS
Mr. Bradford Lewis Vincent, 83, of Green Cove Springs, Fla., passed away on Monday, March 2, 2009 at the Acosta Center of Caring in Jacksonville after an extended illness. He was born in Rutland, Vt. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, the Koreawn conflict and the Vietnam Conflict and retired after 20 years of service. He then was an aircraft electrician with the Civil Service before he retired. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church of Middleburg. He was the son of the late Louis and Jessie Vincent. He was preceded in death by a son, Cliff Vincent. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie McCarley Vincent of Green Cove Springs; two sons, Colin D. "Buddy" (Carolyn) Vincent of Middleburg; and Alan L. (Lynne) Vincent of Green Cove Springs; one sister, Jean Danforth of Va.; and four grandchildren, Evan Vincent; Christina Vincent; Kourtney Vincent; and Bridget Vincent. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 5, at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler with the Rev. Bill Clayton officiating. Burial will follow at Elzey Chapel Cemetery near Worthington Springs. Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler in charge of arrangements. The Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

VINING, RODNEY LAMAR
Rodney Lamar Vining, 71, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 25, 2011. He was also affectionately known as “The Train Man”. He was predeceased by his parents, Freeman Vining, Sr. and Susie Vining; his brother, Freeman Vining, Jr.; and his son, Judson Dean Vining. Lamar was a native of Jacksonville, but lived in Green Cove Springs, FL. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lynda Jackson Vining; sisters Beverly Holt (Don) of Tallahassee, Jacqueline Vining of Ft. Lauderdale; sister-in-law Doris Marie Vining of Jacksonville; and a host of nieces and nephews. Lamar was retired from Laboratory Corporation of America and was the owner of a children’s train known as “My Train”. Services will be held 11:00 am Friday, September 30, 2011 at Russell Baptist Church, Green Cove Springs, FL with Rev. Ron Baker officiating.
