PACEY, CAROL MARY
Mrs. Carol Mary Pacey, 84, of Keystone Heights passed away at her home on Sat., July 16, 2011 following an extended illness. She was born on Dec. 24, 1926 in Minneapolis, MN, and had from Watson Realty as a Real Estate Broker. She was preceded in death by her husband; James Leigh Pacey and her son Robert Pacey. Survivors are her children, Leslie Ann Vereb, Patricia Neinas (Charles), Terry Kaiser (Michael), Mary Ward (Michael), James L. Pacey, Jr. and Phillip Pacey (Rose). She is also survived by her siblings, Josie Smederovac, Mary Hughes, Jim Withrow (Barbara), Pat Ashby, as well as numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Bobby Gene Padgett, age 72, of Clay Hill, Florida passed away on May 3, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Highland, FL on August 2, 1938 to the late Lonnie Padgett and Ola Padgett. He is the last of ten native residents of Clay Hill. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shrimping, and being a provider for his family. He was an active member and served as a shopstewart in the Teamsters Local #512 of Jacksonville where he retired in 1987 after 30 years of dedicated service. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ethel Peeler, Mertie Brooks, Minnie Moore, and Emily Royston; and his brothers, Buddy Padgett, Mark Lee Padgett, and L.J. Padgett. Family members include his children, Donna Padgett Perry, Jeffery Padgett, and Robert Phelan (Patty) Padgett all of Clay Hill; his former spouse, Betty Jean Carter Padgett Church; his grandchildren, Terina (Larry), Josh (Sabrina), Jason (Dolly), Daniel (Christina), Jeffery, Matthew, Cheyenne, Nathaniel, and Jonathan; his great grandchildren, Kaleb, A.J., Quentin, Gabriel, Luke, Logan, Abby, Landen, Lawson, and Kaleb; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. May 31, 1929 - October 25, 2011 Charlie Padgett, age 82, passed away October 25, 2011. He was a lifelong resident of Middleburg, Florida. Charlie was a member of Black Pond Baptist Church. Edwin E. Padgett, 81, of Middleburg, FL, passed away November 16, 2011. He was born in Clay County to Herbert and Maude Padgett. Mr. Padgett had served our county honorably in the United States Army and retired from Waste Management after 20 years of dedicated service. He was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Maude Padgett; brothers, J.D and Raymond and a son, Claude. Mrs. Geneva D. (Green) Padgett, age 76, a long-time resident of Middleburg, died Thursday, March 29, 2011 at her home. Born on September 14, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Willie H. and Jennie (Mosley) Green. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a Nurses Aid for a period of 20 years at Penney Farms Retirement Center. She was pre-deceased by her husband Homer Padgett. She is survived by her daughter; Mary Lou Barber (William) and Debra V. Deese (James) both of Middleburg. Her son: Skipper Padgett (Debbie) of Palatka. Two sisters: Vernie May Adams and Hazel J. Burris both of Orange Park. She is also survived by Eight Grandchildren and eighteen Great Grand children. Padgett, Joyce J.
Joyce J. Padgett, 76, of Middleburg, FL, passed away March 2, 2013. She was born on November 30, 1936 in Shady Point, OK to parents Claude and Amy Jones. Mrs. Padgett had been a homemaker and was a member of the Middleburg Moose Lodge #2410. She enjoyed being at home with her family and will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Edwin Padgett. Survivors include her children, Terry Diedrich, Sherry Yorba and Anthony Padgett; brother, Robert Culbertson; sisters, Gloria Young, Patsy Padgett, Marilyn Latz and Pamela Copeland; grandchildren, Tommy Henson, Brenny Mahoney and Dalton Diedrich; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Mason Davie Padgett age 64, of Middleburg passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Padgett was born on October 31, 1946 in Middleburg to the late Virgil and Maggie Williamson Padgett and was a lifelong resident. Mason was a self-employed mechanic/welder. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years Betty Evelyn Padgett. Survivors are: daughters: Shirley Padgett Portch (John) of Middleburg; Sandy Padgett of Tampa; sons: David Padgett and Dwayne Padgett both of Middleburg; sister: Laura Pittman also of Middleburg; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren. Mr. Tony Padgett, a resident of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., passed away on Monday, August 15, 2011 at the age of 60. He was born on the 7th of June 1951 in Toombs, County, Ga. As a child he moved to Jacksonville, Fla., where he grew up. He had worked for Taylor Concrete for several years. He loved the Jacksonville Jaguars football games, watching NASCAR races and fishing. Everyone knew he as a kind and gentle person. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Padgett and brother, Terry Padgett. He is survived by his mother, Betty Purvis; daughter, Lisa Padgett; son, Christian Padgett; brother, Jerry Purvis; sister, Diane (Richard) Evitt; nephews, Matthew Evitt and Jay Purvis; nieces, Candice and Brandy Purvis, Shelly and Sherry Padgett; great-niece, Brianna; great-nephews, Xavior and Jeremiah, as well as other family and friends. Mr. Carl H. Patria, 90, of Green Cove Springs, Fla., passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011. He was born in Troy, NH on September 17, 1920 to Fred and Lilly Patria. He was one of sixteen children. Of the Baptist faith, he honorably served in The United States Navy during World War II. Later, he worked in carpentry and as a farmer; he was affectionately known as Green Cove’s “Milk Man.” He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 50 years, Ida Mae Patria; and many of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Sally Patria; daughter, Sharon Chaney (Rusty); step-children: Jodi Witt (Steve), James “Butch” Langley (Barbara), Mary Post (Joe), and Bobby Langley (Karen); sisters: Carmen Patnode, Ruby Patria, and Ellen McDermot; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Ronald Eugene Patton, Jr., 45, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 23, 2011. A native of Jacksonville, Fla., he resided in Middleburg and formerly worked for All Service Electric and Westside Electric. He is survived by his wife, Janet Patton; daughters, Carrie and Crystal Patton; stepson, Patrick Morin; grandsons, Tristan Lee and Nathan Allen; father, Ronald Patton, Sr.; stepmother, Loris Patton; stepfather, Bobby Hamilton, Sr.; siblings, Alex Patton and Lisa Lentile; nephew, Matthew Bair, II; aunt, Jean Walker; a close and dear friend, Julie Lewis; and a host of relatives and friends. Ronnie’s passing was painfully too soon. We will always remember how much he loved the Scorpions and his laughs and friendship we will always hold close to our hearts. Mr. Bradford Neil Peacock, 26, joined his dad, Bill Peacock, in heaven on Sunday May 22, 2011. He is survived by his mother, Anita Brown; his sister, Kayla Peacock; his son, Draven Peacock; grandparents Neil & Helen Rice and William & Alice Peacock; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was born on July 22, 1984, in Orange Park. He attended Middleburg High School and was a resident of Clay County his whole life. He was an avid animal lover. He worked very hard to obtain his Florida State License to handle exotic animals and reptiles. Services were held Friday, May 27, at Holly Hill Memorial Park. Burial was at Paran Baptist Church, 125 Paran Church Rd. off Highway 100, Grandin, Fla. Edna Reva Mae Peavy, 79, of Bostwick, FL, passed away at her home on February 20, 2013. She was born in Lexington, KY on November 12, 1933 to parents William and Gracie Massengill Davis. She had resided in the area for over 50 years and was Baptist by faith. Mrs. Peavy was an Honorary Member of the Jacksonville Garden Club Montbretia Circle and a member of the Eastern Star. She was predeceased by her parents; granddaughter, Victoria Arnold; brother, Rev. Rufus “Buster” Davis; half-brothers and sisters, Claude, Jessie, Dolly, Louise, Lillian, Lena, Laura and Frank. Mrs. Peavy is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ralph R. Mr. H.F. Peavy, 83, of Keystone Heights, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 13, 2011. He was born in Pinehurst, GA and lived in North Florida most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1947. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Hazel of 61 years; two sons, Henry and Jimmy; daughter, Julie; grandchildren, Eric Alabiso, II, Jesse Sheppard, Steven Kerr, and Shelley Baldwin and step-great granddaughter, Savannah. Mrs. Mary Esta Wood Peeples 82, of Starke passed away at her home on Thursday April 14, 2011. She was born in Stewart, Mississippi on April 21, 1928 to the late Jim and Thelma (Herard) Wood, and has been a resident of Starke since 1955. Prior to her retirement she worked for Sunland Training Center in Gainesville and was a member of the Rock Primitive Baptist Church in Graham. She was preceded in death by her brother William Wood and a sister, Pauline Lott. Survivors are her children, Sherri Caulk and Mike Peeples both of Hampton, and Fred Peeples of Keystone Heights, 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Max Milburn Pehl (Mel), age 93, passed away on Monday May 9, 2011, following a stroke. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, on August 18, 1917, Mel was a resident of Penny Retirement Community at the time of his death. In addition to his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Caswell Pehl, he is survived by his daughter Wendy Pehl Minnix and her husband Michael Minnix, of Pennsylvania, and his daughter Cynthia Pehl and her husband Douglas Metz of Maryland. Mel is also survived by two grandchildren, James Minnix and Kelly Minnix, and five step grandchildren, Karl Metz, Blake Metz, Luke Metz, Mark Metz and Emily Metz, six step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pettis, Patricia Maxine
Patricia Maxine Pettis passed away on February 20, 2012 in Orange Park, Fl at the age of 79. Pat was born to J.B. and Bertha Dukes on November 5, 1932 in Columbus, GA. She married Mr. Joseph Pettis on February 8, 1954 in Skipperville, Alabama. They had six children Sandra, Linda, Judy, Joe, Naomi and Danny. She was employed as a cashier for the US Military for 20 years and retired at the age of 62. She most enjoyed her years as a homemaker and mother. Pat became affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose in 1946 when her husband, Joseph joined Warner Robins, GA Lodge 1688 and she joined Chapter 1353 on July 12, 1983. She was very active in the Chapter. She received her Academy of Friendship on February 17, 1991, Past Regent on May 1, 1999 and the College of Regents on May 24, 2003. She became a member of the 25-club on January 12, 1993 having sponsored 9was Senior Regent three times. Pat was a proud member of Warner Robins and said one time, that after her husband, Joe passed away, she doesn’t know what she would have done with them. She was also very proud of her family for also joining the Moose. Pat came to Moosehaven on June 1, 2004 where she resided for almost 8 years. Pat enjoyed all the functions here, so I know she had to be a hoot in her earlier years at the Lodge and Chapter functions. There were many times that we would get her on the dance floor in her wheel chair and she had the best time with the one she danced with. She moved around like Funeral Services held Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in the Moosehaven Chapel at 1:30 PM followed by burial in Magnolia Park Cemetery, Warner Robins, Georgia. Services conducted by Rev. Helen Taylor and Officers of Opportunity Chapter. Her husband Joe, daughters, Naomi and Linda, great grandson, Joshua and her brother, Jack Dukes, predeceased her. He was an ordained Baptist Minister and a member of Ortega Baptist Church, Jacksonville. He was a “Mustang” Naval Officer having served in the U.S. Navy from April 1942 until January 1969. He is survived by his wife Sadie Marie Phillips, sons, Samuel Ronald, Dr. Charles Edward and Alan Joseph Phillips, nine grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and sisters Mildred Brisson and Catherine Hurst. Funeral services were held at Ortega Baptist Church, 4865 Roosevelt Blvd. Jacksonville, Monday, May 2, with Rev Flournoy Jernigan officiated. Interment with military honors will be in Riverside Memorial Park, Jacksonville, Fla.

Paul Pierce, 59, of Middleburg, FL, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012. He was born on February 10, 1953 in Quitman, GA to parents Freddie and Jane Pierce. Mr. Pierce was a Korean and Vietnam War Veteran having served his country in the United Stated Army. Mr. Pierce had worked as a truck driver and enjoyed playing horseshoes as well as being with his loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Suzie Pierce; children, Daniel Pierce (Jana), Timothy Pierce and Matthew Pierce; twin-brother, Peter Pierce and brothers, Wayne Black and Gary Black; sister, Carol Kernan and grandson, Alexander Pierce. Laura Faucette Pitts, a longtime resident of Middleburg, passed away Sunday July 10, (2011) after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee August 31, 1950. She was a special education teacher in the Duvall County school system and at Broach School, and partner and nursery manager for Earthly Exteriors, Inc. She also managed the Horticultural Division of the Clay County Fair for five years. Mrs. Alberta H. Porter, 76, of Jacksonville, Fla., passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 in Orange Park. PUGH, NATHAN W.
Mr. Nathan W. Pugh was born September 13, 1982 in Pensacola, Florida and passed on Sunday, June 19, 2011, in St. Augustine, Fla. He was a graduate of Walton High School and Magna Cum Laude English degree graduate from Flagler College. He is survived by his parents, Ron and Marsha Pugh, his sister, Kristen Rhodes and family, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews. He was currently employed with the Clay County School District as an 8th grade Language Arts teacher at Green Cove Springs Junior High and served as Language Arts Department Chair. In 2010 he was selected by his peers as the Teacher of the Year. He had a passion for learning and teaching. He will be missed but will forever remain in the hearts of all those he’s touched.

PURVIS, LILY "PEARL"
Mrs. Lily "Pearl" Purvis age 66, a resident of Green Cove Springs went to be with the Lord Saturday, Jan 1, 2005 at Orange Park Medical Center. Mrs. Purvis was a native of Waycross, GA and the daughter of St. Elmo Popham and Josey Beverly Popham. She came to Green Cove Springs in Nov. of 1992 from Jacksonville. She was supervisor at the Moosehaven retirement Community in Orange Park. Pearl was a member of Clearlake Baptist in Coccoa and attended services at the Moosehaven Chapel. Mrs. Purvis was preceeded in death by her sister Edna Muray and she is survived by her husband, Emory Purvis of Green Cove Springs; two daughters: Brenda DeFazio (Steve) of Middleburg and Patty Mariano (Ralph) of Jacksonville; three sons: Rick, David and Kenny Purvis all of Green Cove Springs; one sister, Margie Hildum (Roy) of Green Cove Springs; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Service for Mrs. Purvis was held Wenesday, Jan 5, at the Moosehaven Chapel in Orange Park.
